Bishop Daniel Delany, born near Mountrath in County Laois in 1747, spelled the name without the middle e; he refounded the Brigidine Sisters in 1807 and founded the Patrician Brothers at Tullow in 1808.
Tuck it into a Christmas card for the Delaney relative who keeps the family history, or hang it beside the first ornament on a new couple’s tree.
